The Gavin Chronicles, July 22, 2008

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

Hello to all our family and friends-
Welcome to the Gavin Chronicles online and live! It has been a month since I updated so I figure I will end the suspense....

Gavin had a check up today with Dr. Jim and he is doing so well. He weighed in today at 10lbs 12oz and was 23 3/4 inches long. This means Gavin has grown 11 1/4 inches in length since birth. Dr. Jim is very pleased with his steady growth and has no concerns. Gavin remains on the Synthroid for his thyroid and we will see Dr. Nayak for a follow up in August. All indicators show that he will remain on this regimen at least until he is 3 years old. He had to have blood taken today to test his thyroid levels......poor little man, they had to stick him 3x and even then the didn't get enough blood.....we are hopeful they can run the test with the amount they got.

Gavin still has physical therapy 2x a month and he just adores Beth. I think she thinks he is pretty cute too! He is still working to master the task of rolling from tummy to back. He can at this point get 95 % over and then he stops because his arm is in the way. He is also working on sitting. He got a Bumbo seat over the weekend and loves to sit in it and be included in events whenever he can.

Gavin is eating quite a bit of table food now and we got the go ahead today to add more. He can now have eggs, meat and peanut butter (the AAP recently changed the recommended guidelines for feeding). I am sure we will try these out over the coming weeks. He loves ice cream and has recently discovered graham crackers. As for vegetables, he prefers carrots or sweet potatoes. He would love to feed himself with the spoon if we would let him.

Gavin has learned very well from his papa how to blow raspberries.....and he loves to do it with food in his mouth. Silly Boy! He smiles all the time and is just a happy baby.

Dare I say we are planning a party!!! Gavin is turning 1 in August. It is hard to believe that a year has gone by. It is amazing to see the power of prayer and God's grace in action in our lives. In one years time we have learned so much about life and so much about each other.

We are doing well as a family. We have been quite busy with summer activities but they are winding down now as we prepare for school to start in August. Brooke has 2 T-Ball games left for this season and Ian's baseball season ended the last weekend in June. Brooke will start back with Soccer the end of August and Ian is looking forward to scouting events with the start of school. Both kids are excited about their teacher assignments and cannot wait to find out who is in their class.

Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate each and every one of you. We truly are blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. Thanks again for your never ending support. We could not have made it on this journey without you.

I have included a few pictures from our summer for you......

Peace and Love-
