"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31

Happy Summer to all of our wonderful friends and family.......

It seems as though it has been a long time since I updated you last. So I have a lot to tell you.....

Gavin had his 9 month well child check the end of May (see I told you it was a long time). Things are going well. He weighed in at 9lb 2.5oz at that appointment and he got the go ahead to start table foods. He loves mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, french fries (do you see he is a carbohydrate addict?), watermelon, rice, and of course anything sweet. The doctor recommended an evaluation by an occupational therapist because he still has a good amount of tongue thrusting when you put anything into his mouth. Hopefully we can get this done over the summer. He is starting to show some catch up growth in the areas of head and length. The last area to show growth will always be in weight the doctor said. He did indicate however, that Gavin may be a candidate for growth hormones in the future. They will wait until he is 2 and then make that determination. He still remains on the synthroid and will have a follow up with Dr. Nyak in August. He will remain on this medication at minimum til he is 3. He still has prevacid as needed for reflux issues. All other meds have been discontinued.

In the development department he is about 50/50. Fifty percent of the things he is on at his actual age and the other fifty at his adjusted age. It seems as though some of his motor skills and language skills are more at the adjusted age. This is what they would expect from a 25 week preemie. He is a very interactive baby. He responds to just about anyone who will talk to him and he smiles all the time. He loves to play with his brother and sister and is still working on mastering the skill of rolling from his back to his tummy. He has long ago mastered the skill of going from tummy to back......probably because he hates to be on his stomach! He babbles up a storm but has yet to say mama or dada.....I am sure that will be coming soon. He seems to be more entertained by saying Ha Ha than anything else at this point. We are still working with Miss Beth our wonderful physical therapist. Gavin really does love her but she works him hard some days.....those are the days he just looks at her....instead of smiling and talking. She comes to see us 2x a month.

At some point Dr. Jim indicated that we will want to have a scar revision done on Gavin's stomach. I am not sure at what point this will be. When the time comes we will have to have an incisional hernia repaired as well. Currently the hernia is not large enough that it needs immediate attention. So, somewhere down the line we are looking at yet another surgery.

Gavin will have a follow up with the eye doctors this summer and I am sure they will give him a glowing review. He tracks well with both eyes and surely does not miss a beat!

He has spent his summer thus far enjoying the warm sun watching his brother's baseball games, watching his sister's soccer games, sitting at the pool and visiting with friends. In the coming weeks we will shift to watching sister's T-ball games and probably more pool time too. I am sure a trip or two to the zoo might be in order this summer as well.

We hope this email finds you all well and enjoying your summer. It surely is an adjustment to have all 3 kids home full time. I am still trying to figure out the whole parenting 3 kids routine. Going to the pool with all 3 kids definitely adds a whole new dimension to parenting. Brooke and Ian are both looking forward to school in the fall and cannot wait to find out who their teachers will be. Ian requested to be in the all boys class and Brooke is so excited about kindergarten. As for me, I am excited to have the house stay in order longer than 10 minutes......although I will miss them both immensly and I am sure it will be way too quiet when they are both gone.

Colin's job is going well and we are so thankful that the Lord provided him with an opportunity to be so much closer to home with the rise in gas prices. He made his first trip to Alabama in April and seemed to enjoy seeing the scenery and of course he loved the heat and humidity . He is currently working on a large project and seems to be really enjoying himself.

Thanks again to all of you for your unfailing love and never ending support. We would not have made it this far on our journey with out you. We are so blessed to be surrounded with people who love us so much. We are truly thankful for your continued prayers and positive thoughts for both Gavin and our family.

I have included a few new pictures of Gavin in his speedo at the pool. He looks adorable and most certainly is a chic magnet.......so here's to warmer days and lots of sunshine!
