The Gavin Chronicles, September 3, 2007

Good Morning-

Just a brief update for you on Gavin this morning. He continues to do well and the doctors are very pleased with his progress. They did a repeat Echo and the cardiologist was pleased to announce that Gavin's PDA has closed up after the first round of antibiotics. This is a huge thing for us. Without the PDA closing Gavin would not have been able to make forward progress so now we are moving on. His glucose levels are really good and he continues to do well on the ventilator. They have to adjust the settings for him several times a day because of his ever changing needs but so far he is still only on about 30% oxygen.....room air is 21% just for reference. They plan to start feeding him some tomorrow. I have been pumping and my milk is starting to come in so he will get all the nutrients that he needs. They weigh him 2x a day currently and he was at 1 lb 1 oz as of this morning. I hope to see him start moving up in the weight department here real soon. A head ultrasound revealed that Gavin had not had any brain bleeds which is also very common among preemies born this early.

So that is it in a nutshell we will keep you posted as we get more information....
